Gypsy Unit have been smashing the scene for 7 years now and show no signs of slowing down. Mashing up Hip-Hop, Swing, and Garage to bring a bass heavy knees-up musical experience you won’t forget the Unit promise to entertain every time. After the success of their debut album ‘Mild Mild West’ they have toured the country and continent and are ready for a whole new summer of fun. 2019 promises to be a big year with a new producer, new tunes and collaborations on the way.
Hailing from the back of beyond and the front line of Bristol, Gypsy Unit make music that turns peoples heads; like the scraping of fingernails on a chalkboard, but more enjoyable! Having began their adventure many moons ago, in a bedroom in Bristol, they soon coined their own genre, Gyp-Hop; a musical chimera of Balkan rhythms, hip-hop vocals and womping bass-lines. A soundtrack for the festival generation, with live sets that make floors shake and people bounce in their boots. This cheeky trio just keep on bringing something fresh to the scene.
Full of character and bouncy bass lines, we caught up with James, Kerry and Bobby who are pioneers of the ‘Gyp-Hop’ sound. With their iconic sound and quirky party vibes, Gypsy Unit have been one of the freshest acts on the scene ever since they first started gigging. For the last 7 years these guys have had a packed out tour calendar, sold out club gigs as well as playing on big stages at festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown and Shambala.
